What is it?
It’s a detailed and structured learning adventure designed to give you a strong understanding of Bitcoin protocol’s core principles. We dive into the practical use cases and the bigger picture of Bitcoin’s impact on decentralisation and security, using Andreas Antonopoulos’s book “Mastering Bitcoin: Programming the Open Blockchain” as our cohort foundation.
Who is it for?
This cohort is open to all — doesn’t matter if you’re a Solidity developer or just a bitcoiner who took the orange pill recently. Whether you’re new to Bitcoin or already have some knowledge, this study cohort will help you step up your bitcoin game.
What are the prerequisites?
No specific background needed, no coding knowledge needed — But how come a Dev Program does not need coding, you might ask. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of coding at Programming Bitcoin or Learning Bitcoin from the Command Line cohorts. Mastering Bitcoin is a foundation that we will build your knowledge on. Some basic knowledge of programming and bitcoin is good, but your curiosity to learn is the most important.
What are the takeaways?
– Strong Understanding of Bitcoin: Bitcoin’s protocol, private keys, Merkle Trees, SHA256 and similar cypherpunk tech.
– Hands-On Experience: Get practical experience with running a bitcoin node, setting up a mining node or just a simple single-sig hardware wallet.

What is the fellowship/internship program?
The internship program is your gateway to Bitcoin FOSS (Free and Open Source Software). You must have some solid proof of work before you can apply, but this is where your contributions to Bitcoin begin — and maybe even your Bitcoin career! The Mastering Bitcoin Study Cohort is a good first step before taking on the fellowship.
